Developmental Math Educator

Adjunct Instructor - Natural Science
The Department of Natural Science at Edgewood College invites applications for a natural science instructor for fall 2008. We are seeking a broadly-trained science educator with an interest in teaching a 100 level integrated natural science course that meets the Wisconsin DPI science requirement for elementary education majors. Candidates should have a M.S. in a natural science (a PhD is preferred), course work in the natural sciences that includes more than one natural science discipline, and some work/experience in curriculum and instruction.   Experience teaching at the K-12 level is desirable.

Responsibilities

Teaching Introduction to Natural Science laboratory and lectures both fall and spring semesters 2009-10.

Qualifications: Candidates must have a Master’s Degree in a natural science; a PhD is preferred.  Prior teaching experience is a plus.

Admissions Counselor
The Edgewood College Admissions Office seeks an individual to serve as the direct link between the College and prospective students.  The Admissions Counselor will discuss the admissions process and program information with all types of students served by the College, but primarily undergraduate students and their families. The counselor will manage and implement a recruitment plan for high school students to include high school visits, college fairs, student and counselor contacts, campus visits, and all follow-up through matriculation; The counselor will also be responsible for reporting progress towards college enrollment goals; assisting in the planning and implementation of special events, as well as serving the needs of prospective students outside of normal office hours.

In addition, the Admissions Office seeks a candidate who will be able to share skills such as fluency in a language other than English, experience with diverse populations, and/or knowledge of marketing principles.

Qualifications:  Entry-level position; bachelor’s degree required; ability to work independently, to identify areas of improvement, and to be self-directed in developing and completing projects, recruitment plans, etc.The candidate must also possess a valid Wisconsin driver’s license and be willing to drive a College-owned vehicle.

The ideal candidate will possess excellent communication skills and will be comfortable speaking in public to large and small groups.  Additionally, we seek a candidate who is charismatic, has a good sense of humor and is looking forward to working in a fun and friendly environment.

Graduate Assistant Coach
Edgewood College
seeks qualified candidates for the position of Graduate Assistant for Women’s Basketball.  This is a ten-month position with a full tuition waiver (18 credit hours per year) and meal stipend.

Responsibilities:  General basketball operations, office and clerical duties and other duties as assigned by the head coach.

Qualifications:  The qualified candidate must be admitted to the graduate program at Edgewood College before they will be considered. Candidates should also have a strong undergraduate academic record, collegiate playing experience, and advanced skill and/or teaching/coaching experience.

 College Ministries Graduate Assistant - pending approval
The College Ministries Graduate Assistant is a candidate for a Master’s degree in Religious Studies, and a member of the College Ministries staff. The Graduate Assistant serves with College Ministries staff members in carrying out the mission of College Ministries, with emphasis on engaging first year students, resident students and transfer students in experiences which develop campus communities and promote personal and spiritual growth. In partnership with the Office for Mission Integration, this ministry position promotes the college’s Dominican Catholic identity by integrating Dominican tradition in programming and services. This is a 10-month position. An assistantship is granted for a maximum of two years.

Responsibilities:  Facilitating Student Personal and Spiritual Growth: coordinate student-led experiences that engage students in examining and deepening their personal and spiritual growth (discussion groups, reflection nights, liturgy, prayer, retreats); recruit and train student leadership to facilitate students’ personal and spiritual growth opportunities; provide and coordinate connections for non-Catholic students with area faith/worship communities; integrate spirituality with campus social and academic life; and be available for spiritual guidance and pastoral care as needed. Forming Communities: partner with College Ministry student leaders, Resident Assistants, Student Development staff and student organizations to develop community building experiences for students; advise student leaders and supervise student-led community building experiences; develop meaningful discussion and spiritual growth opportunities for resident students; advise College Ministries-sponsored student organization; connect students with other College Ministries activities and programs; and participate in the college worship community. Other: identify outcomes and goals, and utilize assessment methods to ensure ongoing program development; participate in weekly College Ministries staff meetings; participate in Student Development staff meetings and continuing education as requested; participate in special college events, including Orientation, Heritage, Commencement, Assemblies; and assist with crisis intervention as needed.

Qualifications:  Bachelor’s degree in Religious Studies, Theology or related field; one year post-college work/volunteer; acceptance in Edgewood College Graduate School; practicing Catholic able to promote the Dominican identity of the college; creative ability to articulate faith and encourage young adult spiritual development; strong written, verbal and technological communication skills; leadership and organizational skills; experience with program planning and assessment; ability to work both independently and in partnerships; willingness to work some evenings, weekends; valid driver’s license; and a practicing musician – piano or guitar – preferred.

Academic Technology Specialist
Edgewood College is currently seeking an Academic Technology Specialist to work within the campus Information Technology Services Office.  This is a full-time 11-month position.

Responsibilities: This position provides technology-related consultation, training and limited technical support for Faculty and Staff in all areas of the College, with a particular focus on the support of instructional technologies used for teaching and learning. This position will provide leadership in the assessment, development and implementation of “best practice” processes to insure the successful use of technology at Edgewood College The position also demonstrates professionalism through developing positive and respectful working relationships with faculty, staff and students.

Qualifications: Bachelors degree in Education with emphasis on instructional technology or directly related and equivalent experience.  Experience in the development, implementation and teaching of educational and training programs for end users, preferably in an academic environment.  Knowledge and experience in using current Windows and Mac applications (MS Office and Adobe), course management systems (Blackboard and Jenzabar), and other instructional technologies related to higher education (e.g. classroom response systems).

Head Women's Tennis Coach
Edgewood College has an immediate opportunity for a Head Women’s Tennis Coach position for the Fall and Spring seasons. 

Responsibilities: The Head Women’s Tennis Coach is responsible for the direct oversight of an NCAA Division III Women’s Tennis Program.  This individual will be responsible for short and long term Women’s Tennis Program planning; overseeing the program budget, sound knowledge of and strict adherence to NCAA, Northern Athletic Conference and institutional rules; recruiting of student-athletes; program fundraising; direct supervision of assistant coaches, student manager; allocate, oversee, and modify the team budget, including operating and booster budgets; increase booster budget funds in conjunction with Development Office; keep a current working knowledge of NCAA and conference regulations, educate all members of team and coaching staff on those rules and regulations, and oversee adherence to them; develop relationships with recruited student-athletes and parents/guardians; and work closely with the Admissions Office on all recruiting activities. 

Qualifications:  Four years of experience within an Intercollegiate Athletic Department (desired); Bachelor’s degree; Master’s Degree (desired); experience in an academic environment (desired); 4 years of college coaching experience or 8 years of high school coaching experience (in tennis); Knowledge and acceptance of the NCAA III Philosophy; attention to detail; excellent communication, organizational and interpersonal skills; time management skills; and understanding of general coaching philosophies and team management.

Assistant Sports Information Director
Edgewood College has an immediate opportunity for Assistant Sports Information Director.

Responsibilities: The Assistant Sports Information Director will assist the Sports Information Director with publicity efforts for the College's 16-sport athletic program. Primary responsibilities will include: updating and managing the college's athletic website (www.EdgewoodCollegeEagles.com); assisting in design of athletic publications; compiling team statistics and records; compiling in-game statistics; reporting results to local, regional, and hometown media; and assisting with game operations. Ability to work weekends as well as nights is required, along with occasional travel.

Qualifications: A bachelor's degree, previous experience in a sports information office and previous experience with Stat Crew Software are strongly preferred. Strong writing and communication skills and a solid understanding of sports and sports statistics, experience working with a wide variety of sports and knowledge of Adobe InDesign and Adobe Photoshop are also preferred.

Compensation: The successful candidate will receive tuition reimbursement for up to 18 graduate credits per year and a meal stipend.

Head Women's Basketball Coach and Fitness Center Supervisor
Edgewood College has an immediate opportunity for Head Women’s Basketball/Fitness Center Supervisor.  This position reports to the Director of Athletics. 

Edgewood College is a community of learners that affirms both its Catholic heritage and its respect for other religious traditions. As a small institution, the liberal arts are the foundation of all our curricular offerings in the humanities, arts, sciences, and professional programs. The college is able to offer highly personalized educational services with flexible opportunities for independent study and the close interaction of students and faculty in more than 40 undergraduate majors and graduate programs in five fields, as well as a doctorial program in education.

Responsibilities:  This is a full time 12-month position.  Responsibilities include the operation and management of the women's basketball program in accordance with Edgewood College, NCAA, Northern Athletics Conference rules, regulations and policies. Other administrative duties as assigned by the Athletic Director will also be involved.  Duties include, but are not limited to coaching, recruiting qualified student-athletes, fund raising, scheduling, budget management, supervision of assistant coaches, planning, organizing and promoting the women's basketball program, developing support for the programs, and monitoring academic progress of student- athletes.

This position will also supervise the College Fitness Center.  These responsibilities will include, but, are not limited to, student staff supervision (approximately 15 workers), budgeting, statistical tracking, safety audits, maintaining vendor relations.

Qualifications: Bachelors degree required, Masters preferred.  5 years of coaching experience required at the high school or 2 years coaching experience on the collegiate level, excellent written and oral communication skills, supervisory experience, CPR/AED Certification, proficiency in Excel. Shuttle Driver LTE Part Time
The Edgewood College Security and Transportation Office seeks an individual to serve as a part-time Safe Ride Shuttle Driver. 

Responsibilities:  Drivers are responsible for safely transporting students and their guests from the college to the downtown area.  Working hours are 10pm-3am on Thursday evenings with the possibility of working an occasional Friday or Saturday evening.  The shuttle does not operate in the summer or during college holiday breaks.

Qualifications:  Applicants must possess a valid Wisconsin Drivers License with a clean driving record, CDL licensed drivers are preferred. Candidates must be free of any known medical condition that would prohibit them for the operation of a motor vehicle.
